Daniel Watts, son of Samuel Watts Jr. and Sally Burchett, was born about 1780-1790, and married Susannah White on 17 Dec 1812 (marriage bond dated 5 Dec 1812), in Halifax County, Virginia. Daniel's stepfather, James Mayne, signed his marriage bond.[1]
Daniel's father, Samuel Watts Jr., married Sally Burchett of Lunenburg, and died before 1812. "Samuel Watts, of Halifax County, VA was born in England (?). He married Sally Burchett and they had Rebecca, Daniel, Lizzie, Gillum, John, Roland, Joseph, Berry, Brackett and Sally."[citation needed]
Daniel was named in county records in 1811 on a list of tithes to work on a road with Robert Jones, surveyor; he appeared on tax lists in 1812; and he worked for surveyor, Robert Hester, in Feb 1816. He purchased 98 acres from Samuel Abbott in a deed dated 1 Dec 1832.[1]
